The flat rotating plug is a must if you need to put two flat plugs into the same wall plug set. Most of the flat plugs have the cord coming out the bottom of the plug which means you can't put anything into the lower plug in point. Being able to rotate the cord means I can use both plug in points behind the couch. Now I can use both lamps and my computer without having to stretch a cord across the living room.
