This product was sold to me as a replacement for gel-filled out-door cable. When it arrived, I just assumed it was up to spec, so I didn't even look at it until it came time to install it. What I discovered was cheap cable. The jacket is about half the thickness of what I normally use, and a bit stiff. The so-called water-proof tape is a joke. I cannot see how porous cotton-like tape can provide a water-proof rating in this cable! Since I was 2-hours from my shop, and there was no other equivalent cable available to complete the job, so I installed it. I only hope that when this cable becomes saturated and no longer works, that Cablewholesale will stand behind it!
CableWholesale Response: The “porous cotton-like tape” you are referring to is the Waterblock tape. It contains a substance that soaks up the moisture and the tape expands. It keeps moisture away from the conductors.
